Pioneer Boys & Girls of America

Mission Statement

It is the Mission of the Trustees of the PIONEER BOYS of AMERICA, Inc. to promote and advance the Character Building and Leadership Training of all youth over the age of 8 years of age.

It is important to the peaceful activities of young people, that our faith beliefs be supported by all members. Those who do not believe in a reverence to God and a tolerance to all believers are not accepted as members and are urged to find other youth groups where such non tolerances may be accepted.

Furthering our Mission are the three main tenets of the PIONEER BOYS AND GIRLS of AMERICA as taught in our OATH, PLEDGE and STANDARDS.

Oath

I promise to obey all rules of the Pioneer Boys and Girls, and will endeavor to be clean in speech and deed. I will respect our Country's laws, and live as a Good American Citizen, to be Honest and Reverent.

Pledge

I will do my best to live up to the Pioneer Oath, and help other PIONEERS do the same. I will make an honest effort to do a good deed each day, and obey my Pioneer Superiors and Parents.

Standards

There are 12 standards used as a guide for every member to learn. When these standards are put into practice, the development of Character is positive.

1. A PIONEER IS TRUSTED
If a member were to violate his being Trusted, he would be cheating on himself.

2. A PIONEER IS LOYAL
A member is loyal to his troop, his parents and his country.

3. A PIONEER IS HELPFUL
In being helpful he does his good deed each day. He is always ready to aid the injured, and help his Parents.

4. A PIONEER IS A FRIEND
He is not just a fair weather friend. When a friend is needed, he is right there with extended hand to offer his friendship.

5. A PIONEER IS POLITE
A member always remembers to be polite, especially to the aged and his Parents.

6. A PIONEER IS KIND
He will always protect our animal friends, and never cause one to be molested.

7. A PIONEER IS OBEDIENT
He is always obedient to his Parents, his Leader and those requiring his Obedience.

8. A PIONEER IS HAPPY
He never frowns when the task gets tough, and finds great enjoyment from being helpful to make others happy also.

9. A PIONEER IS SAVING
Not alone is money the only item to save. By not wasting material, time, effort and thoughts he is saving for a later time when he will need it.

10. A PIONEER IS BRAVE
This does not mean he goes about looking for trouble. He avoids it, but has the courage to face danger, to stand up for his beliefs and tells the truth even though it means punishment.

11. A PIONEER IS CLEAN
He is not only clean because he uses soap and water. His mind, his speech and his deeds are clean. He selects clean friends.

12. A PIONEER IS REVERENT
He is Reverent in his faith's duties. He is Reverent towards his God. He attends the house of worship, not because it is a duty, but because he is Reverent in his custom and religion.

These STANDARDS are spoken to oneself or in unison at meetings as follows:

  • Trusted
  • Loyal

  • A Friend
